Dhaakad was out of theatres before I could watch it: Saswata Chatterjee
Saswata Chatterjee has revealed that he was not able to watch his own Bollywood film Dhaakad in theatres. The actor recently said that it was out of theatres by the time he could try and catch the film. He tagged it as ‘strange.’
The Bengali actor, who gained fame in Bollywood through his role of Bob Biswas in Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahani, played a pivotal role in Dhaakad too. However, he only could not catch the movie in theatres because it was removed from cinema halls.
While talking to News18, Saswata said that he felt bad because Dhaakad was a big-scale project from action to soundtrack but it did not create an impact. “It was removed from cinema halls even before I could watch it,” the actor said.
He could not analyse why a movie like Dhaakad would not work with the viewers. “It was strange to me as well as to why it didn’t work,” Saswata said in the interview.
The actor played the role of ‘ring master’ in the film. He played a mentor-father to ‘Agent Agni’ Kangana Ranaut.
After it released, Dhaakad performed very poorly and thus, the film’s shows were cancelled. Recent reports suggest that the movie has faced such a loss that the producer had to sell his office.
Kangana rubbished the rumours and said that her film was nothing but a victim to ‘negative PR’. The film was called out by critics and viewers alike.
Directed by Razneesh Ghai, Dhaakad also starred Divya Dutta, Arjun Rampal and Sharib Hashmi in pivotal roles. The film released in theatres in May. It is now available for streaming on Zee5.
