The spy thriller, which also stars Arjun Rampal, released in theatres on Friday.
Kangana Ranaut is never one to shy away from speaking her mind, no matter the controversy she rakes up. The actress’ new film Dhaakad hit the big screen on Friday, and the actress opened up about the lack of support she received from Bollywood bigwigs such as Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
In conversation with Mirror Now, the actress said that Devgn would ‘never’ promote one of her films. Although the Runway 34 star does do ‘female centric’ films, he would not do it in a film starring Ranaut, said the actress. “I would be more than obliged and I would be more than grateful if he does, and supports my film,” she said.
The actress recalled a moment where Kumar had ‘quietly’ told her how much he loved her previous film Thalaivi. Ranaut remarked that beside the ‘hush hush’ manner of praising her film, Kumar wouldn't tweet her trailer.
On Bachchan, Ranaut recalled how the veteran actor ‘tweeted her trailer’ and then immediately deleted it. She also added that she did not know why the stars did what they did. The actress went on to say that it was ‘evident’ that the big stars did not want to support her film, and that they should support her as she supports them.
She recalled the moments where she had lent her support for other Bollywood films, including The Kashmir Files and Shershaah. The actress talked about how she ‘went out of her way’ to ‘openly’ praise Sidharth Malhotra(in Shershaah) and added that she had done the same for a Karan Johar film as well. She said that it was not about the people she liked or disliked, but in the end it was about cinema.
Ranaut’s Dhaakad, directed by Razneesh Ghai and also starring Arjun Rampal, is now playing in theatres.
