Dhaakad director Razneesh Ghai on Kangana Ranaut: She is a professional; had to fight producers to cast her

Also starring Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta, and Saswata Chatterjee, the movie is set to hit theatres on May 20.

Kangana Ranaut is all ready to present her action avatar to the world and fans are also eagerly waiting for the release of Dhaakad. The movie’s director, Razneesh Ghai, has now opened up about working with Kangana and some important details about Dhaakad.

Talking to Times of India, the director said that Kangana is fearless in making her opinions and that he respects that and also that the Bollywood star was his first choice to headline the movie. He also added that he had to fight with producers to cast her.

“On the set, she was always professional. If we argued, it was regarding the screenplay. The more you spar, the better your work gets. Disagreements are common so either I had to convince her or vice versa.” the director said.

Ghai also pointed out that Kangana’s Agent Agni is not just someone who “kicks ass”, but is also a deeply layered character. The director then used the examples of Uma Thurman character from Kill Bill and Luc Besson’s La Femme Nikita as movies which had the same qualities.

He further added that the action in this spy action thriller is very grounded and that there is a 14 minute long action sequence where the leading lady was “outstanding”.

Two trailers of the movie have been released so far by the makers, both of which gave an insight into Dhaakad, which was heavy on action. Apart from Kangana in the lead, Arjun Rampal plays the main antagonist. Divya Dutta, and Saswata Chatterjee will also appear in important roles.

Dhaakad will hit theatre screens around the country on May 20 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The movie will clash with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which is scheduled for a release on the same day.
