Mohanlal has announced the official re-release date of the Malayalam film Devadoothan and unveiled the film's remastered trailer. Speaking to members of the media at a press conference in Kochi, the Malayalam superstar expressed his joy that the film would once again be able to be seen on a big screen. In the meantime, he provided an explanation for the film's disappointing theatrical performance in 2001.
"Devadoothan was far ahead of time. This could be a contributing factor to its lack of theatre attention. Perhaps the audience at the time did not find it to be plausible either," he said.

However, following its broadcast on television and subsequent DVD release, the movie received a tonne of positive reviews from viewers. After being made available on YouTube, it has also gained popularity among youngsters.

The Neru actor continued by expressing how special this mystery thriller was in his professional life. He added that he is still in contact with his co-stars from the movie and that he occasionally listens to the songs from it. "As an actor, I personally love this movie," he remarked. Mohanlal further said that given that the movie was shot on film and the producers were able to preserve it, the entire Devadoothan team is fortunate to have the opportunity to re-release it.
The current generation is excited for Devadoothan's big-screen re-release, as it is one of the most distinctive Malayalam films ever made. The movie will be available in 4K remastered with Dolby Atmos in theatres soon. On July 26, the mystery thriller is reportedly set to return to theatres. The countdown is on for the return of this classic to theatres.
