Those eagerly looking forward to watch Sufiyum Sujatayum actor Dev Mohan’s first theatrical release will have to wait longer as the makers have deferred its date by two weeks. The Leo Thaddeus directorial, which was set to hit theatres on June 10, has now been rescheduled for June 24.

The movie, which is touted to be a musical thriller, has Dev Mohan playing the role of an oud artiste, whose arrival to a coastal village sparks off a chain of events that affect the goons in the area as well as the politicians.

Vinayakan and Shine Tom Chacko play brothers and gangsters in the film, which has Lal as a politician. James Eliya, Srinda, Indrans and Rajesh Madhavan are also part of the cast of the film, which had completed shoot last year.

While the makers haven’t given any reason for the shift in dates, it could be because Nivin Pauly’s period drama Thuramukham, which was initially set for a June 3 release, has been shifted to June 10. This sets up a clash between Dear Friend as well. The latter, which is a mystery drama, starring Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Sanchana Natarajan and Arjun Lal marks the second directorial of actor-director Vineeth Kumar.

June 10 will also see the release of Rakshit Shetty’s 777 Charlie, which is distributed in Kerala by Prithviraj Productions, and Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World Dominion – both highly anticipated films in the State.

Meanwhile, Panthrand will now have to face competition from Dhyan Sreenivasan and Gokul’s Suresh’s Sayanna Varthakal, which is also set to release on June 24. The other upcoming Malayalam theatrical releases in June including Tovino and Keerthy Suresh’s Vaashi, Mathew Thomas and Dileesh Pothan’s Prakashan Parakkatte – both on June 17 – and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva on June 30.
