Despicable Me 4 OTT release date in India

The animated comedy Despicable Me 4 released earlier this year has been available to rent on Prime Video and ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium). The film produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination is now set for its full-fledged OTT release for all subscribers. You can begin streaming the film on JioCinema (OTTplay Premium) beginning November 5, 2024.

Overview of the Despicable Me franchise

It follows on the heels of Despicable Me 3 (2017) and is the fourth major installment, making it the sixth installment in the Despicable Me franchise altogether. Mike White and Ken Daurio wrote the film, Chris Meledandri and Brett Hoffman produced it, Patrick Delage (making his feature-directing debut) co-directed it, and Chris Renaud directed it. Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, Renaud, Madison Polan, Dana Gaier, Joey King, Joey, Pierre Coffin, Steve Coogan, Steve Coogan, Sofía Vergara, Steve Coogan, Renaud, and Kristen Wiig are the voices of the actors featured in it.

Plot summary

In Despicable Me 4 former supervillain and secret agent Gru (Carell) moves his family to a safe home in order to evade his former adversary Maxime Le Mal's (Ferrell) vengeful plot. The subplots revolve around the assimilation of Gru's family into their new lifestyles, the attempt by King's teenage neighbour Poppy Prescott to emulate Gru's nasty ways, and the transformation of Gru's goons into superheroes by Coffin.

The film became the third highest-grossing film of 2024 with a total of $965.3 million, despite receiving poor reviews. It was budgeted at $100 million.

Character profiles

Steve Carell portrays Gru an Anti-Villain League agent and former supervillain, who serves as both the adoptive father of Margo, Edith, and Agnes, as well as the biological father of Gru Jr. and Lucy's husband, who works as a solar panel salesman under the alias "Chet Cunningham Sr." Kristen Wiig portrays Lucy Wilde, an Anti-Villain League agent, Gru's wife, and the adoptive mother of Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Additionally, she portrays "Blanche Cunningham," a hairdresser who adopts a false identity, as Gru Jr.'s biological mother.

Will Ferrell plays the role of a supervillain named Maxime Le Mal, who has a French accent and is based on cockroaches. Le Mal was Gru's high school adversary and now wants vengeance on Gru and his family. Joey King plays Poppy Prescott, a Mayflower neighbour and ambitious supervillain who has always adored Gru. Valentina, Maxime's femme fatale lover, is portrayed by Sofía Vergara, who has a Maltese puppy as a pet.
