Despicable Me 4 Box Office Update

While the world is now obsessing over the many tentpole movies that have lined up for release in Hollywood, what has bounced back into the mainstream is the animated genre, which is currently ruling the big screen. When Inside Out 2 performed its magic recently, we thought that was the peak of the genre’s success for this year. But who would have thought we would get another successful animated movie in the same year? Despicable Me 4 has managed to recreate the magic like its predecessor. The world was eagerly awaiting the release of their beloved franchise, Despicable Me, because with it returned the Minions, who have impressed audiences and made them fall in love. It turns out the film has now reached a significant opening milestone.

Despicable Me 4 Gearing Up For A Big Opening Weekend

The Despicable Me franchise has now managed to make it a tradition to release around the July 4 holiday. The only film among the four not to release on this date was the first one. Despicable Me 4, which hit the big screen on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, has managed to draw in big numbers. While some estimations suggested that the impact of the franchise might have gotten diluted, the movie bounced back on July 4 and managed to take the estimation beyond $100 million, exactly the same as Despicable Me 3.

According to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, at the end of the five-day opening weekend, Despicable Me 4 is expected to earn $120 million. The three-day weekend half of $72 million has indeed made everyone confident about the same. This has to be a very strong opening as the number is similar to the opening of Despicable Me 3, which also had a five-day weekend to itself. The fourth installment is the sixth film in the overall franchise, with the last movie being Minions: The Rise Of Gru. The franchise ranks as the top-grossing animated franchise of all time.
