Desingh reveals his plans for directing Rajinikanth; aims at making a 200 percent Thalaivar film

Rajinikanth's next outing, Thalaivar 169 (tentative title), is with Nelson Dilipkumar. Anirudh will compose music for the film which will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures. Though many speculations are doing the rounds with regard to the project's cast and crew, only Priyanka Mohan's inclusion has been more or less confirmed.

Fans of the Superstar were hoping that their matinee idol would team up with Desingh Periyasamy after Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix). In fact, AGS Entertainment was supposed to bankroll the untitled movie as well. But it got shelved in the initial phase itself owing to reasons best known to them.

Desingh, who made heads turn with his debut film Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (streaming on Netflix), is still hopeful of directing his favourite star soon, and revealed his plans to fans of the star during a Twitter space session yesterday. He said that it is the support and love from Rajini fans which makes him put extra effort to come up with an intriguing script for the Superstar.

When one of the fans asked him about the possibility of his joining hands with the Petta star, Desingh said, "Nothing has been confirmed for now. So, it isn't good to say too much about it. But if it materializes, it surely will be a 200 per cent full meal as a Thalaivar padam."

Calling himself a Rajini veriyan, Desingh said that he writes every scene keeping in mind the response from hardcore Rajini fans who celebrate every expressions and movements of the Superstar.

During the space session, fans told him that they don't mind waiting for Rajinikanth's collaboration with Desingh even if it takes a few years. They hope that the young filmmaker will be at the helm of Thalaivar 170 or Thalaivar 171.
