Filmmaker Neil Blomkamp, who is famous for the District film series, and is a specialist for science fiction movies, returned with a film—Demonic, which is a brilliant mixture of horror and sci-fi in 2021. However, this Halloween, Demonic will be making its India debut soon on Lionsgate Play, after a long three years. The English horror sci-fi film, Demonic is going to make its India OTT release on Lionsgate Play, on October 25, just six days before Halloween, which is on October 31, 2024. You can also watch the movie through OTTplay Premium. The film has an ensemble star-cast that includes Carly Pope, Chris William Martin, Michael J. Rogers, Nathalie Boltt, Terry Chen, and Kandyse McClure.
Demonic plot overview
The film is about a young woman named Carly (Carly Pope), who is haunted by the lingering tension of her mother's decades-long conflict with her grandmother, unwittingly awakens a malevolent force that has been dormant for generations.
As Carly delves deeper into the dark secrets of her maternal family’s past, she discovers a chilling truth that feud between them is not just a mere personal fight, but a manifestation of supernatural forces that have been manipulating their lives. With each revelation, Carly’s world unravels, as she becomes entangled in a terrifying battle against the ancient demons that threaten to consume her and her loved ones.
Neil Blomkamp’s experience in making Demonic
Back in 2021, the 45-year-old director spoke highly about his experience in making Demonic. He stated that the Covid pandemic helped him come up with the idea of making a film like this. “The idea came from a very unusual and weird process. Because of Covid, I wanted to create something we could put together ourselves and make sense everything else seemed to be on hold. I have always wanted to make my own small horror film”, Neil said.
