Demon Slayer season 3 (Swordsmith Village Arc) episode 1 review: This anime is back in full form!
Demon Slayer.

Story:

Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu were injured while trying to kill a demon. Can they wake up on time and start fighting already?

Review:

Entertainment District Arc proved to be huge for Demon Slayer. The demon slayers managed to slay an upper rank demon, proving their worth and giving the demons nightmares. Swordsmith Village Arc i.e. season 3 of the season begins at a very crucial moment – where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Nezuko sit embracing one another.

Kagaya is the same as always. Even as his body fades away, he has hopes in his eyes. The makers ensure you see that. The music associated with his character helps build the tone of the show for certain.

Most definitely, you meet the demons soon after. They are obviously introduced in the most scariest way possible, with the help of music, sets and cinematography. This holds true for Akaza, Gyokko and Hantegu too.

Biwa Woman is not exactly a demon but even her introduction works. Upper Rank Two demon Doma has the best entry though. His face-off with Akaza is the best. Doma’s personality is also what makes him scary for a demon. He’s actually good even for a demon.

Upper Rank One Kokushibo is the scariest of them all. He was the most awaited in this season. If you look at him closely, you will know exactly why. A scene clears the same.

Muzan, as expected, is the scariest of them all. His introduction is not the scariest ever but he does it again. You get goosebumps just by his actions. He is the angriest, something that is never seen before this.

Other members are also angry but for a different reason – because the demon slayers are finally up and going. That is what lightens up the mood and makes the series so special.

Uzui is seen in a very brief role and it is too much of himself. The man is a monster who stood up and took the support of his wives but did not let any man help him. Typical Uzui.

Inosuke’s entry is very much like himself. He’s a boarhead and behaves like it too.

Zenitsu is also all himself and much like described, he wants to run away from his mission. He is loud as always but this time, since everyone is, there isn’t much to him.

Of course, the women in the series are introduced as sensuous. This time, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji is without clothes itself. The focus also shifts to her breasts. Tanijro even focuses on covering that over really meeting her.

Soon after, Tecchin, the head of Swordsmith Village, is introduced. His mask is sure to gain your attention instantly.

Hotaru, the angry swordsmith is mentioned but not seen in this episode. However, his role is such that you just cannot forget him anyway.

Genya Shinazugawa is introduced in the darkest way possible. Tanjiro’s reaction to meeting him is hilarious.

Muichiro Tokito, who prevented Nezuko from turning into a complete demon, is back. This Mist Hashira is the perfect example of if looks could kill. Just as you admire the scene, comes the biggest surprise of the episode – Tanjiro recognizes a face that was supposed to be hidden.

The action in this series and of course, the VFX is all still on point. The pauses not only in scenes but also music truly help the show to a huge extent.

The suspense is intact in this anime. There are also fun moments where required and that makes the first episode so wholesome.

Unfortunately though, the makers have scene breaks that do not work well for them. Many-a-times, the scenes break to include an introduction or simply show one side of the story. That doesn’t absolutely work for the episode.

Watch the post-credit scene in the episode if you are an Inosuke fan. His craziness is on a whole new level this time.

Verdict:

The Swordsmith Village Arc commences in a great way. Everything with the story is perfect except some times when the scenes switch. That can get disturbing at one point but when invested in the story, Demon Slayer is very much up to its standard. New demons are introduced and they are scary. This builds further intrigue for the show.
