You do not want to miss Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 4, for it has some of the best surprises
Story:
Having beaten Tengen Uzui, Tanjiro progresses to the next level in his Hashira training. This time, he joins Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji. Meanwhile, Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro and Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa have a training of their own.
Review:
The fourth episode, It Makes You Smile, begins with the star of the third season, Tanjiro. He witnesses Muichiro Tokito in action, and that also happens to be his next task. Taking the story forward from the third episode, Tokito has gone back to being his cold self (if even Tanjiro is scared on seeing Tokito, you know it means business) but is obviously a delight to watch when fighting. His expressions on seeing Tanjiro, the switch, is what makes Demon Slayer so special. It is also what makes Tokito so different. He can go completely cold but underneath it, he's considerate. The scene where that is revealed leaves little impact but works.
Tokito's crow, Kasugai, ends up playing a role this time. She comes at the perfect time, adding to the fun commencing in the episode.
Kanamori, the swordsmith from, you guessed it, Swordsmith Village Arc, is back. His tete-a-tete with Tanjiro and Tokito ends up bringing a surprise you didn't see coming.
Kubuyashiki's mention in this episode, and how he is remembered, will warm your heart. Of course, as always, music plays an important role in building the emotion.
A moment of suspense is built this time. Tokito has become a target, and he actually might have made himself the target. There's a lot going on in the scene, but it is expected to be unveiled in the upcoming episodes.
The transformation to Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa, who is impressive with his skills like each time, surprisingly has something new to offer this time around as well. His battle with Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro, as one can expect, is fierce but a definite visual delight. They bring colour to the otherwise dark world, and that blends in perfectly. There's a surprise you might not have seen coming and that is the highest point of the episode. There are literal fireworks in the scene. Of course, Tanjiro is also discussed when it comes to the trio.
While Tokito and Tanjiro's training is the highlight, it is their friendship which takes the cake. As always, Tokito's changing expressions make the episode a worthy one. Tanjiro has another fun competition out of the blue, which is his second time since soba eating competition with Giyu Tomioka. This time, it is a heartwarming moment along with it being an absolutely fun moment.
Tomioka and Tanjiro's trainer Sakonji Urokodaki is back and the moment comes when you least expect it. This is what the title of the episode means, because it is this moment that brings a smile to your face.
Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji appears but in the last scene. Tanjiro gets to training with her, in her mansion. The two being their goofy and adorable selves brings the perfect end to the episode. Of course, food is discussed between the two, mainly because Kanroji is known to have a big appetite with the best taste in food. Tanjiro's day starts with a big breakfast he has never even heard of before today.
There is a second post-credit scene this time around, and of course, it is about Tokito. This one tries to be fun but doesn't quite strike the chord. However, if you have loved Tokito, you definitely do not want to miss either this episode or the scene.
Verdict:
There is no way you would want to give this episode a miss. It has the perfect amount of heartwarming moments as well as action. Every character in this episode will win you over. Yes, every. That is how amazing this one is.
