The entire nation is mourning veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar’s passing today.

Political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind penned heartfelt notes about the queen of melodies, who worked in the Indian music industry for seven decades.

“Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film for decades”, Modi wrote on Twitter. He added that Mangeshkar was always passionate about India’s growth and remembered how she always wanted to see a strong and developed India. He also mentioned his interactions with the late singer.

President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted a picture of himself with Mangeshkar and expressed how heart-breaking it was to hear of her demise. “An artist born but once in centuries”, he wrote. He also shared his memories of interacting with her and how exceptional she was as a human being.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari mentioned that he is deeply saddened upon the loss of Nightingale of India. He also called her ‘the pride of the nation’.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hailed her as ‘an unparalleled musician’, who has left an unforgettable mark in India’s music history. He also conveyed his condolences to her friends and family.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi affirmed that her golden voice will be immortal as she remained as the most beloved voice of India for decades.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted that Mangeshkar’s songs will remain evergreen and her life dedicated to music will always be remembered.
