Like its predecessor, the mockumentary will give a roundup of the events that made the current year so chaotic
After Death to 2020 Netflix is back to give viewers another hilarious rundown of the chaotic events of this year as well. The streaming giant announced the sequel to last year’s mockumentary, Death to 2021, unveiling a teaser for the same.
The teaser reveals the comeback of Diane Morgan as Gemma Nerrick, an average British citizen, as she tries to navigate her life in lockdown again. She tries to do something about how lonely she feels by trying out online dating, hilariously showing viewers how cautious she is by swiping right only on those men who wear masks. In another chuckle-worthy moment, she then offers a peek into her Zoom dates, which she refers to as being ‘efficient’ as she has three suitors on screen.
According to Deadline, the upcoming comedy special will feature stars such as Hugh Grant, Tracey Ullman and British comedians Samson Kayo and Morgan reprising their roles from the prequel. New cast members include Lucy Liu, The Good Place’s William Jackson Harper, and Stockard Channing.
The prequel, Death to 2020, covered various important events of that year which took place in the US and UK, such as the US presidential election, the British royal family’s address to the nation, the vaccine trials, the racial protests in the US and many more.
Death to 2021 also follows a mockumentary format and is executive produced by Annabel Jones and Ben Caudell. The production banner is Broke and Bones.
Death to 2021 will premiere on Netflix on December 27.
