Dayal Padmanabhan’s next Kannada film, Ombathane Dikku, has been ready for a while, and the director-producer had been looking for a suitable window to release it amid the deluge of movies that are hitting theatres every week. While Dayal had earlier told us that he was eyeing an end of November or early December release, it appears that he’s now zeroed in on December 31 to bring his Yogi and Aditi Prabhudeva starrer to audiences.

“This is a fantastic crime thriller, narrated in non-linear manner, based on an adapted screenplay that I got the rights for. There is an emotional family element in the tale, as well as a totally unexpected climax. It’s quite an unpredictable story, in which a bag becomes more important to the narrative than the hero himself. I would sum up Ombatthane Dikku as a suspense thriller that will appeal to family audiences, as there is no bloodshed, violence or sex. This is not to say it is not for mass audiences. I think it is a film that is balanced for both single-screen and multiplex crowds,” Dayal had told OTTplay back then.

Although Rakshit Shetty was among the first to announce December 31 as the release date for his next, 777 Charlie, in recent days, there have been whispers in Sandalwood circles that he may push its release ahead to March 2022. Of course, there has been no official word on that, but since then filmmaker Guru Deshpande announced that his next production, Love You Rachchu will be a December 31 release and now, Dayal is bringing his film too.
