The trailer presents Jisshu as the serial killer. Prosenjit Chatterjee, aka Baishe Srabon-fame Probir Roychowdhury, and Anirban Bhattacharya, aka Vinci Da-fame Bijoy Podder, chase the serial killer.
Is Jisshu U Sengupta a good man portrayed in a bad light? Is Jaya Ahsan the manipulator? Is Prosenjit Chatterjee behind all the murders after all? Will Ritwick Chakraborty make a cameo at the last moment? Fan theories have flooded social media as soon as the trailer of Srijit Mukherji’s Dawshom Awbotaar was dropped on Sunday.

The trailer presents Jisshu as the serial killer. Prosenjit Chatterjee, aka Baishe Srabon-fame Probir Roychowdhury, and Anirban Bhattacharya, aka Vinci Da-fame Bijoy Podder, chase the serial killer. Jaya Ahsan approaches them with information about the killer who thinks himself to be the 10th Avatar of Lord Vinshu. The trailer of Dawshom is dotted with references from its sequels – Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da. Besides, it has references from Dwitiyo Purush as well.
Meanwhile, social media is inundated with fan theories. So much so that it may seem like we got the story of the film already. Given the legacy of red herrings and twists of Srijit in his thrillers, many fans are not ready to accept the clear hint of Jisshu as the murderer. Their bait is on Jaya Ahsan as a manipulator and killer. In fact, many fans assumed that it is Prosenjit Chatterjee who is the assassin.
Not just the story predictions, social media is also flooded with memes about Srijit and his company. While some made fun of Bijoy Podder’s dialogue on a branded health drink, others quipped on the iconic kissing terrace used by Srijit for Parambrata Chatterjee and Raima Sen in Baishe Srabon and Anirban and Jaya in Dawshom.

All said and done, the trailer has already created the buzz that was needed before its release, making it one of the most anticipated films this Puja. It will still have to compete with Dev’s Bagha Jatin, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Raktabeej, and Arindam Sil’s Jongole Mitin Mashi. Can the ‘first boy’ of Tollywood make it to the top? Only time will tell.
