Daveed teaser OUT: Antony Varghese, Moe Ismail face-off in action-packed film that promises a ‘David vs Goliath’ tale

Antony Varghese has landed a solid punch with the Daveed teaser, which also stars Egyptian actor Moe Ismail.

Antony Varghese-starrer Daveed directed by Govind Vishnu, is one of the most-awaited movies set to hit the screens in February 2025. The makers of the upcoming film, which revolves around a boxer, have unveiled the teaser, raising the anticipation for its release. Antony Varghese has landed a solid punch with the Daveed teaser, which also stars Egyptian actor Moe Ismail.

The teaser begins with a voiceover that recounts the classic David and Goliath tale. Amid this, we are introduced to Moe Ismail as Sainul Akhmadov, who seems to reign supreme in the boxing ring.

As Sainul declares that he can smell fear in his opponents, leading man Antony Varghese Pepe makes a terrific entry as Ashiq Abu, beating his opponents to a pulp. This is followed by a girl explaining that a ‘hook, jab, and an uppercut’ is all that is required to finish the rival. We also see glimpses of Vijayaraghavan, Lijomol, and Saiju Kurup throughout the teaser.

The 1-minute-31-second teaser ends with a flourish as Abu, fully dressed in black with shades, sends his opponent crashing into a glass wall. The last scene teases the ultimate face-off between Abu and Sainul.

While earlier announcing that the teaser would be released on Tuesday, the makers had ‘promised action, the thrill, and the power-packed visuals like never before’. The teaser comes close to delivering on these promises and has set the stage for the release.

Antony Varghese Pepe, who was last seen in Kondal, is set to return to the silver screen as Ashiq Abu in Daveed which also features Moe Ismail in a pivotal role. Vijayaraghavan also essays the key role of Puthalath Ragavan, a legendary boxing coach. Lijomol, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, and Kichu Tellu form the rest of the supporting cast along with Jess Kukku as Abu’s daughter Safa.

Written by Deepu Rajeevan and Govind Vishnu, the film has music by Justin Varghese.

Daveed and other February 2025 Malayalam releases

Daveed is set to release in theatres on February 14, 2025. Several other Malayalam films are also releasing for Valentine’s Day. Daveed’s biggest challenger would be Mammootty’s game thriller Bazooka, which also has Gautham Vasudev Menon. Arjun Ashokan's Bromance, with Mathew Thomas and Mahima Nambiar, is also scheduled to be released on the same day. Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu’s Painkili has also booked the slot for February 14, 2025.
