Poster for Dasvi
Netflix India today unveiled the release date for Abhishek Bachchan's social comedy Dasvi. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur in pivotal roles.
Debutant director Tushar Jalota has helmed Dasvi from a script penned by Ritesh Shah, who is known for Pink and Batla House. The story is by Ram Bajpai.
The poster features Bachchan, who plays Gangaram Chaudhary, is atop a table in the middle of what looks like a library. He seems in the middle of making some kind of a proclamation, and the people around him seem surprised and awe-struck.
The tagline of the film reads: "Jail se dasvi karna hai tumhara (We will make you finish class 10 from jail). Right to education!"
Kaur plays Bimla Devi Choudhary (aka Bimmo), while Gautam essays the role of Jyoti Deswal, a Haryanvi IPS officer in the film.
Dasvi is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Sandeep Leyzell and Shobhana Yadav and presented by Jio Studios and Vijan's Maddock Films.
Maddock has previously been the production house behind social-themed comedies like Angrezi Medium, Bala and Hindi Medium, all of which have performed well at the box office and have also gained critical acclaim.
The film will release on Netflix India on April 7 and will also be available on Jio Cinema to watch.
