Abhishek talks about his film and how his father is supporting him.
Abhishek Bachchan's latest film Dasvi has received positive reviews and public accolades since its April 7 premiere on Netflix and Jio Films. The story revolves around a politician (played by Abhishek) who is imprisoned and intends to finish his Class 10 there. Recently, engaging with fans on a Twitter Space organized by Netflix India, Abhishek disclosed that the video prompted 20 Agra jail convicts to take their Class 10 examinations as well. Abhishek and other Dasvi actors shot parts of the film in the jail.
On Wednesday, the actor participated in a Twitter Space hosted by Netflix India, where he spoke about his film and the reactions to it. While discussing his experience of filming inside the Agra jail for Dasvi, Abhishek stated that director Tushar Jalota informed him how the film ended up influencing a few of the convicts.
"Tushar informed me some time ago that after we finished filming there, 20 detainees from the jail sat for their (class 10th) examinations," he said.
The actor went on to say that 12 of the detainees passed the examinations. Abhishek expressed his gratitude for his film's ability to leave such a positive impact in someone's life. He said, "It's amazing when you can be an agent of change via your work. That is very inspiring, and I appreciate it."
During the interview, Abhishek also highlighted how his father, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been promoting the film on social media. According to Abhishek, people usually ridicule Amitabh for lavishly complimenting his kid but this does not deter him. “People are unaware that he is filming in Delhi. We are seldom apart for the release of a film, so perhaps he is feeling the same way,” Abhishek shared.
Dasvi, which also stars Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur, was released on Jio Cinema and Netflix on April 7. Tushar Jalota directed the film, which was produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banners Maddock Films. Jio Studios, and Bake My Cake Films co-produced the direct-to-OTT release film.
