Darshan’s pearls of wisdom at college fest: Have an aim and focus on achieving that, but also have fun

At a time when most of the Kannada film industry comprises engineering graduates, the Challenging Star said that youngsters ought to figure out what they want to do in life and works towards that

Challenging Star Darshan has often been candid that he was not the brightest student during his school days, but his massive stardom has meant that he gets to address younger generations occasionally and guide them in the best way possible that he deems fit. The Kannada star was recently at an engineering college fest, where he gave them important life lessons on the importance of focusing on ones’ aims, studying hard and preparing for a future in which there will be lakhs of aspirants for 1 job, among others.

Addressing the gathering, the actor said that life is not as rosy and cushy as they’ve imagined. Since he was speaking at an engineering college, Darshan cited the example of a friend, who’d spent years on an engineering degree, but is now working in a totally unrelated field. “So, whatever you wish to achieve in life, keep that aim in mind and concentrate on that,” he told the students. Darshan also reminded them that at the speed at which development is happening in the world, they are looking at a grim future where there will be lakhs of aspirants for just one position. “There is no guarantee that you will get the job, plus you have massive competition. So, please study well,” he urged the youngsters.

Having said that, Darshan added that college days are golden and that they ought to enjoy this period. “You should have fun, but never lose sight of what your aim in life is,” he said, adding that his life was the perfect example. “Darshan may have started out as a light boy on a film set, but the aim was always to be an actor, for which I did everything that needed to be done to achieve this goal,” he added. The actor then told them about how many new talents in the Kannada film industry are from engineering backgrounds and that he has often asked them why they’d wasted four years on a degree that is no longer of use to them. Instead, they should have pursued something related to the field they are in now, he said.
