Darshan Kumar, in a recent interview, candidly revealed that he has been getting a lot of hate from the netizens for his character of Major Sameer in The Family Man.
Season 2 of The Family Man released recently and the hype around the show doesn't seem to die anytime soon. The hit Amazon Prime Original series, created by Raj and DK is taking over the internet by storm. People are going gaga over fan theories and characters of this show. Making a following of their own, each character of the show is gaining popularity among fans.
Attracting attention for his portrayal of the cold-hearted mastermind antagonist in the series is Darshan Kumar. Having slayed negative characters in the past with his role in NH 10, the actor is seen essaying the role of Major Sameer, the Pakistani mastermind villain in The Family Man franchise. It’s often said that the portrayal of a negative character can truly be considered successful when she/he is really despised by the audiences. This seems to be exactly what is happening with Darshan right now. Lately, the actor has been receiving loads of hate from netizens, thanks to his character of Major Sameer from The Family Man.
In a recent interview with ETimes, Darshan revealed that he has been receiving lots of nasty messages from fans on social media. He told the publication, “Fans were saying slogans like ‘Hindustan zindabad, Major Sameer murdabad’, ‘doodh maangogey kheer denge, Major Sameer Hindustan ki taraf dekha toh cheer denge’. They are abusing me like anything. They think I am from Pakistan. They have forgotten that I’m Darshan and I’m also from India (laughs)."
“I play a negative character, and basically am the mastermind of the plot. So, my friends and family are calling me up or messaging me and saying, ‘We hope you die in the next season, or something bad happens to Sameer’,” he revealed in another interview with MensXP.
Darshan has previously worked in movies like NH 10, Mary Kom and Sarabjit, all of which are available to stream online. Not dead yet, audiences will be able to catch his character's storyline in the next season of The Family Man, which was teased by the makers towards the end of The Family Man 2.
