The movie marks the third collaboration between the Kannada star and the Roberrt filmmaker
The surprises keep coming for fans of Kannada star Darshan on his birthday today. After the release of the first look of V Harikrishna’s Kranti earlier in the day, the makers of Tharun Kishore Sudhir directorial unveiled the theme poster of the movie
The theme poster shows a guard dog leading a flock a sheep, along with the makers clarifying that the movie is based on true incidents. The tagline roughly translated to: "It is the responsibility of the one who is leading to show the way to those who are following."
Last year, Darshan in an interview had hinted that he would be doing a "commercial film" with Rockline Venkatesh after his film with SV Rajendra Singh Babu on Madakari Nayaka, which is also produced by Rockline Venkatesh, was delayed. The movie was reportedly set to be based on the works of BL Venu and the team had scouted locations including Mirjan fort for the film. It remains to be seen if D56 was the movie that the Challenging Star was talking about.
It was long rumoured that Darshan and Tharun's upcoming movie, which marks their third collaboration after Chowka and Roberrt, will be a historical film. Darshan had already done a couple of film in the genre such as the superhit Krantiveera Sangolli Rayana, which revolved around the freedom fighter’s battle against the East India Company, and the 2019 mytholigical movie Kurukshetra, in which he essayed Duryodhana.
The upcoming film is also produced by Rockline Venkatesh. Incidentally, Roberrt producer Umapathy Srinivasa Gowda too had bought the rights for a biopic on freedom fighter Sindhura Lakshmana, which Tharun was set to direct. This was widely speculated to be Darshan's film with Tharun. The theme poster though doesn't confirm this.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the actor’s fans were treated to his stylish avatar in Kranti, which revolves around the protagonist’s fight against the education system. The movie, which is produced by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, has him teaming up with Rachita Ram.
A few days ago, the actor had put up a video on social media, saying that he wants to keep his birthday celebrations simple this time and he wouldn't be in Bengaluru. The actor also urged his fans to stay safe till the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.
