The actor took to social media to gleefully announce his next directorial. Netizens, however, were not too thrilled with the prospects.
For Darling Krishna, the past few months have been quite testing. Despite successive releases, the actor has been unable to secure a box office hit to his name and in all fairness, he might have himself to blame for this. His core audience has sent repeated reminders to him to implore him to switch things up as a performer, instead of relentlessly dispensing romantic comedies that are unbelievably similar to one another.
Krishna, in his defence, has stated time and again that he is extremely fond of the romcom genre for its 'feel good' factor, adding that he likes to be part of the kind of films that he would personally enjoy watching.
And, as it turns out, he continues to be quite firm about this stance. Recently, on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, Darling Krishna took to social media to announce that he is currently working on Love Mocktail 3, the third instalment of the successful 'Love Mocktail' franchise that he has himself directed and also co-produced along with his now-wife & fellow actor Milana Nagaraj. It wasn't the typical and emphatic 'super excited to inform you' kind of announcement but a more subdued one that included a small note on a piece of paper.
His followers, however, were less than pleased about this and did not mince their words in their responses. Almost unanimously, netizens expressed that extending the franchise was a bad idea and that it was about time he looked for new stories.
"Come out of it guys ,u guys don't have any other projects??" said a user while another pointed out that making Love Mocktail 3 just because the second part did not work does not seem like a wise thing to do.
"DCU (Darling Cinematic Universe 🥲)?" asked another, in jest.
Well, it might be premature to judge that the film Darling Krishna is developing is mediocre or unworthy of his time and effort. But, looking at his recent track record at the box office, one might call this a move of desperation. Since he has already established himself as a director, maybe it's time to try something new? No harm in making another romcom, either.
