The Boycott trend on social media has become a rampant issue for the Hindi Film Industry as every major release, of late, falls prey to it. Even the likes of Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ranbir Kapoor couldn't help but succumb to it and while most of the flak on the internet seems unwarranted at the moment, the actors involved are compelled to address it in media interactions.

Actor Alia Bhatt, who has been in the thick of this phenomenon in the recent times, spoke about the 'Boycott Brahmastra' trend and expressed regret over the constant justification required on her part to the fans. "I can't keep defending myself verbally, I'll do it through my work. And if you don't like me, don't watch me - I can't help it," said Bhatt in a recent interview with the Mid-Day.

For obvious reasons, the statements did not go down very well with the netizens who deemed that she was being arrogant with her stance, almost overlooking the vexation in her words. Many sought a resemblance in Alia Bhatt's tone with that of Kareen Kapoor Khan who, during the peak of the 'nepotism' debate in 2020, was found making similar statements about the Boycott culture.

In this vein, Dahan actress Tisca Chopra shared her views on the same matter recently and said that if an actor or any piece of work is 'boycotted' by the audience, one must accept it with humility and work harder to prove themselves. "There's no culture as such," referring to the Boycott trends and added that they are instead of result of the audience not liking the content put out.

In the same interview with the India Today, Tisca Chopra added that actors aren't special beings by any means and that their jobs involve several other people who, for myriad reasons, do not get the attention.

"We are the ones who are seen on-screen, however, there are a lot of people who have worked behind it. Our responsibility is not just towards the writers or the producers, but to everyone who are involved in making the film. As performers, that responsibility is on our heads."

Chopra will be seen playing the role of an IAS Officer in the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar web-series Dahan, which is centered on themes of horror, folklore myths, and superstions. Saurabh Shukla, Rajesh Tailang, Ankur Nayyar, Rohan Joshi too star in the series which premieres on September 16.
