While the exact for the postponement has not been divulged, the team of Monsoon Raaga shares that the delay is due to unforeseen circumstances and that the new release date will be announced at the earliest.
The wait for Monsoon Raaga continues as the makers announce yet another delay in the release of the film. The Daali Dhananjaya and Rachita Ram starrer was earlier scheduled to release in cinema halls on August 12 which was later pushed to take place on August 19.
However, as per the latest developments, the film will NOT be releasing on August 19 either and the makers are now in the process of deciding the new release date. While the exact for the postponement has not been divulged, the team of Monsoon Raaga shares that the delay is due to unforeseen circumstances and that the new release date will be announced at the earliest.
Monsoon Raaga has been directed by S. Ravindranath of Pushpaka Vimana (2017) fame and the upcoming film marks his second collaboration with Sandalwood’s Dimple Queen, Rachita Ram. Rachita will be seen as a sex worker in the film, a role that she agreed to with a lot of reluctance but her doubts were quashed, apparently, when director S. Ravindranath and his team promised that they would reshoot all the sequences she wasn’t happy with.
The superstar actress would eventually agree to play the tricky part and fans have been in love with the myriad facets of her character: from the retro look to her on-screen camaraderie with Daali Dhananjaya’s character, fans have been quite keen on watching the unique romance unfold on the big screen. The film also stars Achyuth Kumar, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Yasha Shivakumar who each play a key role in the narrative.
Although unconfirmed by the makers, Monsoon Raaga comes as the remake of the Telugu anthology film C/O Kancharapalem. The 2018 Venkatesh Maha directorial saw a unique blend of slice-of-life stories set in the same neighborhood of Kancharapalem, including a poignant love track between a bartender and a commercial sex worker.
Ravi Bopanna, Monsoon Raaga, Shiva 143 and Luckyman: 4 remakes in the next 4 weeks in Kannada cinema
While Monsoon Raaga is a remake, the makers of the Kannada film seem to have lent a new sensibility and tone to it: be it through the use of rain as an important metaphor or the way music plays a key part in the narrative, director S. Ravindranath & Co. seem to have made significant efforts in infusing freshness into the remake. J. Anoop Seeling scores the music.
