The latest grapevine suggests that Dhanush’s next directorial, D50, starring SJ Suryah and Vishnu Vishal, is close to being confirmed. Here’s everything about it

D50, directed by Dhanush, is one of the most ambitious projects of the actor. The Captain Miller star had announced the completion of the film’s shoot in December 2023, but is yet to reveal any other details, including the title. Reports now suggest that the film’s name is Raayan. Although it was rumoured to be named Kaathavaraayan, it looks like the title has now been shortened to Raayan, according to some sources. The film is currently in its post-production stage and is expected to be released in theatres later this year.

All about Dhanush’s 50th film

Dhanush made his directorial debut with 2017 film Pa Pandi and is now directing his 50th film. D50 is touted to be a gangster film set in North Chennai and also stars Dhanush. It follows the lives of three brothers, played by Vishnu Vishal, SJ Suryah, and Dhanush. Although an official announcement is awaited, Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Anikha Surendran and Sundeep Kishan are said to play pivotal roles in the film.

Dhanush's upcoming directorial

Apart from D50, Dhanush has also directed a new-age romance drama titled Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Starring Pavish, Anikha Surendran, Priya Prakash Varrier, Mathew Thomas, Venkatesh Mohan, Rabiya Khatoon, and Ramya Ranganathan, the film is touted to be a love story and is currently in the post-production stage. The movie’s first-look poster and title were recently released by Dhanush, who has also written the story.

Dhanush had a fabulous start to the year with the blockbuster hit, Captain Miller. From Sekhar Kammula’s D51 to Dhanush’s two directorial ventures, 2024 seems to be an exciting year for the actor-filmmaker.
