Madhu Mantena and Allu Entertainment are producing the series.
Disney+ Hotstar announced on Friday that a new series adaption of the epic Mahabharata is in the works. During a panel at the D23 expo, Gaurav Banerjee, Head of Content for Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star, revealed the project. The Mahabharata one of India's greatest epics, serves as the inspiration for the series, which explores the final struggle between "dharma and adharma."
Banerjee made a statement during the Disney fan event's International Content & Operations session that more than a billion individuals are familiar with the tale in some way. The majority of people in the country learned these from their grandparents when they were little, but there are billions more who are still unconscious of what they have been missing. It would be an honour for him to be able to share this amazing tale with a larger worldwide audience next year.
Madhu Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment will produce the series. The producer expressed his joy at the chance to introduce Mahabharata to Disney+ Hotstar in a message to the media.
The producer said that it is stated that the Mahabharata with its intricate characters and plotlines, captures every known emotional conflict encountered by mankind. The opportunity to release a version of the legendary Indian epic Mahabharata on Disney+ Hotstar and to share this news on a major international stage at the D23 Expo makes everyone at Mythoverse incredibly happy.
Meanwhile, Applause Entertainment head Sameer Nair also said that an animated series on the Mahabharata is also in the works. He told OTTplay that he read Amar Chitra Katha as a child; they had nothing else but it. He watched a lot of foreign animated shows as he was growing up, but he never saw anything that resembled the Mahabharata, Shiva's opening of the third eye, or Kama Deva's burning. Finally, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana were both immensely revered in that respect when they first appeared on television. The Amar Chitra Katha series, and particularly our mythology series, have always seemed to him to be incredibly active, like Greek gods and HeMan.
