D 50 almost wrapped up
Dhanush dropped a picture of himself on his Instagram page and captioned it, "D50-when the horizon is so close, final stages of filming (sic)." In the picture, the actor is seen looking at the sunset with the back of his head facing the camera. The picture is now doing the rounds on the internet.

Sophomore project as director

Dhanush made his directorial debut with the feel-good drama Pa Paandi (2017), which had Rajkiran in the lead, who played an ex stunt master, who goes on to reunite with his former girlfriend. The film, which also starred Revathi, Prasanna, Chaya Singh, Madonna Sebastian, Dhanush and Dhivyadarshini, became a commercial success and was later remade in Kannada as Ambi Ning Vayassaytho (2018). The Kannada version had Ambareesh in the lead.

D 50, on the other hand, is a gangster story set in North Madras. The announcement poster showed smoke billowing out of a crowded settlement. D 50 is bankrolled by Sun Pictures, marking Dhanush's second collaboration with the production house after Thiruchitrambalam. Sundeep Kishan, Anikha Surendran and Varalaxmi are said to be part of the star cast. Composer Deva was approached for a role, but he didn't take it up.

Dhanush awaits Captain Miller
In the meantime, Dhanush is eagerly awaiting the release of his action-oriented film, Captain Miller, helmed by Arun Matheswaran. Dhanush plays a fugitive who is on a run from the British forces. The film is set in the pre-independence era and the teaser, which was dropped on the occasion of his birthday, shows the actor firing in the middle of a warfield.
