In addition to Akshay, the upcoming film stars Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead. Sargun Mehta and Chandrachur Singh are also reportedly part of the film’s cast. Cuttputli is speculated to start streaming on the platform sometime next month.
The film had wrapped up production last year, but the makers are reportedly planning to film a ‘special dance number’ featuring Akshay and Rakul in Mumbai this week.
The upcoming film was reportedly called Mission Cinderella initially. It is touted to be the Hindi remake of the 2018 Tamil film Ratsasan, directed by Ram Kumar. The original film followed the story of a police officer, and aspiring filmmaker, who investigates a string of gruesome murders carried out by a serial killer. The Tamil film starred Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul, Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and Ramdoss in pivotal roles and can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. The film was also remade in Telugu by Ramesh Varma as Rakshasudu (2019), starring Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Anupama Parameswaran.
