Written and directed by Sachin CR, the 15-minute short is currently streaming on YouTube
Sachin CR, who made the widely appreciated Kannada short film Aa Kshana 2 earlier, has written, produced and directed yet another. Called Cross Talk, this 15-minute short, starring Anurag Sharma and Gagana, follows their characters, Prithvi and Maya, who were in love once upon a time and decide to meet at their usual hangout, five years since their break up.
The duo has not been in touch over the years; their break-up was ugly, after all. And yet they put all animosity aside to discuss how life has been for them. He has gone from being an aspiring filmmaker, who was trying his hand at making short films, to having two hits under his belt and is all set to get married. While she is ‘happily married’ and has a daughter too. His impending wedding is why they’ve met; he wants her to be there with her family.
The premise of Sachin’s film is simple, but he presents it with conversations across the table from the day of their break-up and their meeting now. At first it may seem confusing that their conversation does not make sense, but soon enough you realize that Maya from five years ago, cuts to Prithvi now and vice versa. Also, there’s more than meets the eye to this break up over her refusal to wait for him, as he tries to make something of his life. The maker even squeezes in a song he’s written, Preethiye Kshamisu, sung by Shubhasree and set to tune by Vishnu BJ and Hari BJ.
Cross Talk is currently streaming on YouTube. It has subtitles in English too.
