Court summons Javed Akhtar over Kangana Ranaut's 'criminal intimidation, insult' complaint

Kangana Ranaut files a complaint against Javed Akhtar.

Looks like troubles for 78-year-old lyricist Javed Akhtar refuse to die down! Mumbai Court on Monday summoned Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar on actor Kangana Ranaut's complaint under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insult to the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

Thus, Akhtar is required to appear before the Andheri court on August 5, confirms a report by India Today.

Noticeably, Ranaut filed a complaint against Akhtar after he had filed a defamation complaint against her following an interview in 2021.

In the interview, India Today reports that Ranaut was allegedly pressurized by Akhtar to apologize to actor Hrithik Roshan in 2016. At that time, Roshan and Ranaut were publicly involved in a dispute over some emails between them.

Also, prior to the spat between Roshan and Ranaut, the two Bollywood celebs were believed to be dating each other. However, owing to personal differences, the two parted ways.

Interestingly, Akhtar is a close friend of Hrithik Roshan’s father Rakesh Roshan. Reports suggest that Rakesh sought help from Akhtar to save his son from the legal spat.

To help Rakesh Roshan, Akhtar allegedly threatened Kangana to apologise to Hrithik Roshan.

While the legal trouble continues amongst Kangana Ranaut, Hrithik Roshan, and Javed Akhtar, they continue to perform exceedingly well in their respective careers.

Recently, Kangana Ranaut announced that she will next portray an Indian Air Force pilot in the drama Tejas.

Not only this, but she will also portray the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on screen in her second directorial project, Emergency about the 1977 Indian Emergency. Later, she will star in a sequel to the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi.

Hrithik Roshan will next star in Siddharth Anand's action film Fighter with Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor.

Javed, too, is known for his work in Hindi cinema. He has won five National Film Awards and received the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2007, two of India's highest civilian honours.
