Coolie update: Lokesh Kanagaraj drops surprise details about the Rajinikanth film

We had earlier reported that actor Rajinikanth would be teaming up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film titled Coolie. While there have been no further updates about the film, the filmmaker has treated fans with a post on social media in which he revealed Rajinikanth's look in the film. On Wednesday, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is currently working with Rajinikanth in Coolie, dropped a picture of himself along with Rajinikanth. In the picture, Rajinikanth is seen sporting his look in Coolie. Rajinikanth is seen smiling as Lokesh takes a photograph in front of the mirror. The Thalaivar is seen in a salt-and-pepper look, wearing a black shirt and sunglasses.

Lokesh Kanagaraj also added that the film will go on floors in July.
Coolie is the first time that Lokesh, known for his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), is working with Rajinikanth. The film is produced by the Sun Pictures banner and has Anirudh Ravichander, a regular collaborator of Lokesh, score the music.

The makers of Coolie have yet to announce the additional cast members for the film. However, it is speculated that actors Sathyaraj and Shobana have been roped in to play pivotal roles in Coolie. Girish Gangadharan is reuniting with director Lokesh as the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing.
A release date for Coolie is yet to be announced. It is expected that the film will hit theatres in 2025. It is also highly unlikely Coolie will be part of the LCU, which includes Vikram, Kaithi and Leo. If the reports are to be believed, the Rajinikanth is set to play a unique character with negative shades in Coolie.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will be next seen in Vettaiyan, directed by filmmaker TJ Gnanavel. The film is backed by Lyca Productions and is expected to hit theatres in October. The film also features actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and others.
