Coolie, the action thriller that marks the first onscreen collaboration of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set to go on floors in July 2024. The movie, which is touted to be an out-and-out action thriller has been making headlines lately with speculations about its star cast. Sathyaraj, the senior Tamil actor, is set to reunite with superstar Rajinikanth after a long gap of 38 years for the film. Recent updates suggest that popular Malayalam actor, Fahadh Faasil plays a key role in the film.
Fahadh Faasil to reunite with Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj for Coolie?
If the recent updates are to be believed, the National Award-winning actor is all set to reunite with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and leading man Rajinikanth for Coolie. The movie marks Fahadh Faasil’s second collaboration with the filmmaker, after the massive success of Vikram the 2022-released Kamal Haasan starrer. The Maamannan actor recently teamed up with the superstar for Vettaiyan, the 170th film of the legendary actor, which is set to hit the big screens in October 2024. However, the makers of Coolie have not reacted to the reports, yet.

Coolie to have an LCU connect?
The recent reports on Fahadh Faasil’s inclusion in the Coolie star cast have led the cine-goers to believe that the movie is indeed a part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). The grapevine suggests that the talented actor might reprise his character Amar from the blockbuster movie Vikram in the film. However, some other reports suggest that Fahadh is playing a different character in the film. Notably, director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed that Coollie is a standalone film and has no connection with LCU, in one of his interviews last year.
Coolie star cast – Here's what we know
Rajinikanth is playing the protagonist in the film, and the superstar’s character is expected to have negative shades. Sathyaraj is appearing in the role of the protagonist’s close friend in Coolie. Shobana, the senior actress, is reportedly playing a pivotal role in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, which is expected to feature Bollywood star Ranveer Singh in a cameo appearance. The production banner, Sun Pictures, is expected to officially announce the film's star cast once the project goes on the floor in July 2024.
