Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes trailer – Revisit the chilling saga of America’s Killer Clown

The upcoming Netflix documentary is helmed by Joe Berlinger, who had also helmed Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

After Ted Bundy, Netflix has decided to give viewers a close and personal look into yet another one of America’s infamous serial killers. Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes, which chronicles the life of the titular murderer, unveiled its trailer recently.

The trailer shows snippets of newspaper clippings and reports detailing the murders and crimes attributed to Gacy, including the time when police discovered the bodies of his victims buried on his property. Testimonies from people connected with the case are also included in the trailer, where they offer their two cents about the serial killer’s workings and crimes. Gacy himself makes numerous appearances in the form of interview clips, taken when he was apprehended for his crimes and arrested.

Gacy was also given the moniker of ‘Killer Clown’ due to his work as a performing clown at various charity events. His murderous spree stretched over a decade, starting from 1972, and ended with his capture in 1978. He was executed in 1994. The upcoming documentary will chronicle the late killer’s life through archival and interview footage, newspaper and television reports and testimony from people who were connected to him.

The upcoming documentary is helmed by Joe Berlinger, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the Paradise Lost documentary trilogy. Berlinger had also created and directed a few episodes of Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, which similarly explored the life of Bundy.

Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes will be available to stream on Netflix on April 20.
