Will Mohammed Shami or Mohammed Siraj replace Jasprit Bumrah for the T20 World Cup.
After Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, many name started to make the rounds as to who would replace the Indian pacer in the team. One such name was Mohammed Shami.
While many believed Shami could be the better replacement due to his experience in playing the World Cup prior, however, there is one bowler who could possibaly edge past Shami.
In the concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa, Mohammed Siraj presented a strong case for his inclusion in the World Cup after his performances.
Siraj impressed all with his bowling and was also effective in his death bowling in the second ODI in Ranchi.
In the series finale, Siraj used new ball to his advantage as the scoreboard read 26/3 after the conclusion of the first powerplay. The Indian pacer rattled the Proteas batting order after all-rounder Washington Sunday drew first blood. Siraj gave away just 17 runs in five overs and took two crucial wickets.
While Shami seems the obvious choice to replace Bumrah for the impending T20 World Cup, but fans believe Siraj's recent form could sway the decision in his favour.
The T20 squad of India are already in Australia and engaging in warm-up games. Their World Cup warm-up games will be against Australia and New Zealand before they take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening fixture.
