Chiranjeevi Sarja passed away after he’d finished the shoot of the K Ramnarayan film, but had not dubbed for it at the time
It’s been rumoured for a while and today, the makers of the upcoming Kannada film Rajamarthanda have confirmed it. The K Ramnarayan film has a release date and it is, as has been reported, on October 6 as a birthday gift for the late actor’s brother, Dhruva Sarja, who has dubbed for Chiranjeevi’s portions. In fact, when Chiru, as the actor was fondly known as, passed away following a heart attack in June 2020, he had a few projects in various stages of early development, but Rajamarthanda was the one that had been completed. Chiru was looking at dubbing for his role once lockdown relaxations kicked in, but that was not to be.
Dhruva, who has his own slate of movies, was not going to let his brother’s effort go in vain and when the team spoke to him about its status, he readily offered his services to dub for Chiru. It’s been a while since Dhruva did the needful for the film, a task he said was very difficult, and it was expected to be in cinemas earlier, but for reasons best known to the team, it was delayed further and is now coming to theatres on October 6. This can also be seen as an early gift for the late actor, whose birthday falls on October 17.

Last year, it was Century Star Shivarajkumar who was in a similar position as Dhruva, as he had to provide his voice to the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s role in James, the Power Star’s last commercial film. While the film released with Shivarajkumar’s voice on March 17, subsequently, the team employed the services of a firm specializing in audio technology, which used publicly available voice samples of the actor from various films and interviews and worked on providing his voice in James. This turned out to be a successful venture, and the team of James later replaced the audio file, giving Puneeth fans a more wholesome experience while watching it.
