Budding composer Rap Rock Shakeel, who has been in the news recently for Sandeep Madhav’s Gandharwa, has another release in the next week - Darja. Set to hit theatres on July 22, the film is an out-and-out commercial entertainer headlined by Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj. In a media interaction, the music director expressed his happiness on working in two contrasting projects at once.

Rap Rock Shakeel thanks audiences for receiving Gandharwa’s music well and shares he’s equally confident of Darja’s result at the box office. “The film is a complete mass entertainer and I hope audiences like it. The music score will be in stark contrast to Gandharwa. I was thrilled when Lingo Lingo, a song from the film clocked a million views in a day,” he said.

Two other songs from Gandharwa have also brought him fame - Ellipoke Saavariya and Kannulake. “Having witnessed the response to the song in theatres, I couldn’t have asked for more. The positive responses have motivated me to better myself and surprise music buffs in the times to come. I try to enjoy whatever I do. In Darja too, I’m sure my score will enhance the impact of every scene.”

He thanks the singers of Darja, including actor Uttej, Moushmi Neha and SPB Charan for their support. “Saleem Malik, the director of Darja is a very simple man and a wonderful narrator. I am completely satisfied with the way he has translated his script onto the screen. The producer Siva Sankar Paidipati, cinematographer deserve praise,” Shakeel added.

Content with his progress in the industry, the composer stated, “When people say the industry doesn’t recognise talent, I disagree with them. Despite having no Godfather in the industry, I’ve received ample support and progressed as a musician. If we are capable enough, recognition is only a matter of time. There may be disappointments, failures but we need to take them with a pinch of salt.” He is also working on an English film Blackman and another Tamil project.
