Homi Adajania's 2012 film Cocktail featured Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty. This romantic comedy's score has remained popular long after the film's first release. Cocktail which transformed Deepika Padukone from an actor to a star is considered a pivotal moment in her career. 13 years after the release of Cocktail, producer Dinesh Vijan is preparing to release Cocktail 2, but with a different ensemble of actors. The forthcoming film would reportedly be a love triangle starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, according to sources familiar with the project.
Cocktail 2 plans and new cast lineup
Pinkvilla reports indicate that they are seeking a third female actor to complete the triangle. Shahid and Kriti are teaming up again for Cocktail 2 following the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. They were both enthralled by the screenplay and can't wait to dive into this romantic comedy. Cocktail 2 producer Dinesh Vijan is a huge lover of romantic comedies, and he thinks the script is perfect to revive the genre, according to an insider.
In Cocktail Vijan collaborated with Imtiaz Ali on the creative process, but in Cocktail 2, he'll be working with Luv Ranjan. Ranjan wrote the screenplay for Cocktail 2, and the filmmaker will serve as an integral part of the production team. Cocktail 2 production timeline
In May of 2025, Cocktail 2 will begin shooting under the direction of Homi Adajania. Additionally, casting for the film is currently underway, with the expectation of a large ensemble alongside the two leads. Shahid is moving on to Cocktail 2 after wrapping up Arjun Ustara/Evil under the direction of Vishal Bhardwaj. Meanwhile, Kriti will conclude filming Tere Ishk Mein, under the direction of Aanand L Rai, before embarking on Cocktail 2.
