National Award-winning director Ashim Ahluwalia, well known for highly praised movies like "Miss Lovely" (2012) and "Daddy" (2017), among others, is making his digital entertainment debut. The Netflix series "Class" which is a remake of the well-liked Spanish series "Elite," is being directed by the filmmaker and screenwriter. He says that translating the Spanish series for Indian audiences is a huge responsibility for him. Ashim explained to Mid Day that he created a new work using the Spanish series as a starting point rather than simply localising it. It's not just about adapting a show for Indian viewers; it's also about giving the plot a distinctive viewpoint and cultural context.
The series, which will debut on the platform on February 3, features Zeyn Shaw, Ayesha Kanga, Chayan Chopra, Naina Bhan, Chintan Rachchh, Moses Koul, Cwaayal Singh, and Madhyama Segal. The director says he is happy with the series' outcome.
Ashim's art is inspired by the cinema. He had the chance to use his favourite forms in class in a deeper, more immersive way. They have never before seen this aspect of India on television, thanks to the series. A seventh season of the Spanish series has recently been ordered.
