Streaming giant Netflix is bringing another best-selling manga’s live adaptation with City Hunter release. A while ago, the horror series Parasyte: The Grey made its awaited premiere, and now it is the turn for Tsukasa Hojo’s manga to get its very own live adaptation into a crime caper comedy film. Helmed by Yuichi Satoh, City Hunter unveiled an action-packed trailer ahead of its April release on the platform.

On April 8, the makers of City Hunter shared a compelling trailer that showcases Ryo Saeba, a.k.a. City Hunter, with his partner in crime, Hideyuki, along with their daring adventures to solve crime. The duo takes up the mysterious case of cosplayer Kurumi before the tragedy hits them, and Ryo’s life takes a dark turn.

In the trailer clip, we meet the bold and funny Ryo Saebo, whose only weakness is a pretty-dressed woman. Set in modern-day Shinjuku, Tokyo, Ryo Saebo works to sweep the city clean by eradicating the criminal organizations along with his partner and best friend Hideyuki. We are also introduced to the mysterious Angel Dust drug, which has an adverse effect on people, making them unhinged or insane. Tragedy hits Ryo when Hideyuki gets murdered one day, and he reluctantly teams up with Hideyuki’s sister to punish the perpetrators and serve justice.

The trailer seems quite promising because it blends crime, mystery, and comedy. Whether it's the witty dialogues, multi-layered narrative, or the lead actors – City Hunter offers action and oodles of entertainment to keep you hooked to the screens.

When and where to watch City Hunter

Directed by Yuichi Satoh, City Hunter is among the highly anticipated international films due to its loyal fanbase of the manga as well as the promising trailer that was released minutes ago. The beloved manga, City Hunter’s live adaptation, will drop on April 25. It revolves around Ryo Saeba (Ryohei Suzuki) and his adventurous life to fight crimes and chase women.

City Hunter also features Misato Morita as Kaori, Masanobu Ando as Hideyuki Makamura, and Fumino Kimura as Saeko Nogami (police detective) in prominent roles.
