Citadel Honey Bunny - Raj & DK tease Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's never-seen-before action avatar in the Prime Video series

Raj & DK embark on a new adventure with their latest project, Citadel: Honey Bunny featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in starring roles.

One series that has made people excited is Citadel India created by Raj & DK. The new series in the Citadel universe, following the 2023 release of the Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden starrer, features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles. Citadel: Honey Bunny, the series' title will showcase both actors wielding unparalleled power.

Departure from trademark genre: Raj & DK's approach to Citadel: Honey Bunny

During a recent interview on the show The Bombay Dream hosted by Mukesh Chhabra, Raj & DK were asked to dish out details about the Prime Video show. To which they stated, "It's the first time we're collaborating with someone. This is the first time we're actually not making it feel like it's just us. We're actually collaborating with an international team. So it's our first time actually working with somebody on anything—film or series. It has always been Sita or Suman; that's it. This time, we are constantly working with international teams."

Talking about being away from their genre of filmmaking, Raj added that perhaps this is a little further down the road, but they are purposefully avoiding making a series that people would mistake for Raj & DK.

Action debut and character dynamics: Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu

While talking about Varun and Samantha's action avatars, they went on to say, "We are excited for Varun's proper action debut. I'm sure he's done action films in the past, but nothing like this—a proper action hero avatar. Samantha, you've seen her performing action in The Family Man as well, but it's on a much broader and larger scale than in Citadel."

Set against the colourful backdrop of the 1990s, Citadel: Honey Bunny's tale is compelling, combining the comforting charm of a love story with the pulse-pounding aspects of a brutal spy action thriller. In the Citadel canon, Honey Bunny is a show set in India.

The premiere date for the forthcoming series is set to be announced by Prime Video.
