You'd have been living under a rock if you haven't watched the latest song Current Laga Re from Rohit Shetty's upcoming film Cirkus starring Ranveer Singh in the lead. What makes the song super special is Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's electrifying chemistry and insane expressions as they dance their heart out in the song.
There are times in the song when one gets reminded of Deepika Padukone's Meenamma avatar in Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express where she co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan. At the song launch event of Current Laga Re that took place in Mumbai on Thursday, Deepika Padukone was asked why she doesn't do films in the comedy genre more often, and before she could respond, pat came the reply from Rohit Shetty, "Every second film she can't do with me na (smiles)."
Deepika Padukone then added by saying, "I was going to say that. Comedy is the most difficult genre to do. As much as I would love to do it and do more of it, there's only one person in this country who's doing it correctly and that's him (Rohit Shetty). I've had the opportunity of collaborating with him once and, God willing, we'll collaborate again."
In case you missed it, watch the song right here:
While Cirkus marks the third collaboration of Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty after Simmba and Sooryavanshi, Deepika Padukone has only done Chennai Express with the filmmaker back in 2013. At the song launch event of Current Laga Re, Rohit also made it official that the third film in the Singham franchise will be titled Singham Again and will be headlined by Deepika Padukone. Singham Again will also be the fifth film in Rohit Shetty's cop universe.
Meanwhile Rohit Shetty's next titled Cirkus, which is based on Shakespeare's play The Comedy of Errors, also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Sanjay Mishra, Johny Lever among others along with Ranveer Singh. The film is slated to hit the silver screens on December 23, 2022.
