The past week, Malayalam actor Dileep had surprised his fans and those of director Johny Antony’s CID Moosa with an announcement of its sequel. Now, the actor, who is set for the release of his upcoming movie Voice of Sathyanathan, revealed more details of the second instalment of the much-loved film that also had Bhavana in the lead.

“We are looking at seriously making it happen,” said Dileep, in a press meet in Kochi recently. “Johny has already talked to (writers) Sibi (K Thomas) and Udayan (Udaykrishna) and god willing, we will begin the first phase of pre-production by 2024.”

Sibi K Thomas and Udaykrishna, who had scripted superhits such as Twenty: 20, Runway, CID Moosa and Vettam, had parted ways in 2015 after Dileep’s Ivan Maryadaraman. The actor’s promise of a sequel is expected to bring the duo back together.

Dileep also opened up about how he wanted the sequel to turn out. “Right now, we have a lot of incidents in mind for the movie, but we also want more material,” he explained. “We want the sequel to be better than the first part, especially in the case of CID Moosa. The first part focused on Moosa and his dog Arjun. We want to expand that in the sequel, on a bigger scale.”

While the actor dismissed rumours of a sequel of Joshiy’s Lion, he did confirm that he has been mulling the possibility of Runway’s second instalment, Walayar Paramasivam, and the follow-up of Two Countries. “The central character (of Runway) can be placed in another setting and the sequel can follow his journey,” he said. “But for sequels of movies like Two Countries, we need all the characters to be part of that. So, we are talking to the producers about that.”

Meanwhile, Dileep has reunited with Two Countries’ writer Raffi for the latter’s directorial Voice of Sathyanathan, which is set to hit theatres on July 14. The movie also has Joju George, Veena Nandakumar and Anupam Kher as part of the cast.
