A new chilling documentary unveiled its first trailer and it is an unbelievable tale of true crime when a box full of school children goes missing in a small town. CNN Films is the production house behind the latest crime documentary to cater to the audience on the streaming platform of HBO Max in January.

Brace to immerse yourself in the dangerous and shaking criminal investigation that featured multiple innocent victims. Chowchilla will be available to stream on the Max platform from January 11.

The new upcoming true crime documentary centers around the rural town of California’s Chowchilla. In it, the narrator speaks to the camera about the unfortunate incident that stirred a wave of concern in society after a school bus with almost 26 children mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

The documentary features the horrific kidnapping tale in the words of the survivors themselves. The archival newspaper footage and pictures from the mass kidnapping add to the chilling true crime story with rare interview footage from the survivors who experienced the horrors firsthand.

In the 1:27 minute trailer, the innocent children are returning to their homes when their journey is cut short by kidnappers as they take them to an underground facility and bury everyone alive. The dramatization lets you feel the anxiety and adrenaline rush to race against time and try to escape the grasp of the unlikely criminals. The missing school bus alarmed society and sparked a media frenzy to cover the crimes and investigate the truth. One of the circumstantial evidence showcases a strange journal written in an encrypted language.

“It’s possibly the story of the century,” the narrator admits to the camera. With several talking heads, interviews, and archival footage, Chowchilla delves into the hidden truth and mysterious disappearance of children in the county.
