The actor shared the screen with Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga.
Sharad Kelkar went into tough as nails cop mode yet again for his latest release, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga. The heist thriller, which also stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal in leading roles, follows the story of a couple who plan to smuggle diamonds on a plane, only to have their plan go horribly wrong when they become victims of a hijack. Kelkar essays the role of a cop in the film, and revealed that despite being offered a lot of cop roles in his career, he is very picky of the ones he chooses to play.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Kelkar revealed that he got ‘dozens’ of offers to play the characters of police officers in both shows as well as films. But despite the number of offers, he was very selective of the roles he picked, only saying yes to a maximum of two or three roles.
And he made sure that the roles he picked were very different from each other. Kelkar ensured that the roles were written in particular ways so that he could portray them in different ways. He only said yes to films in which he thought his character had some role to play. If he thought that the role he was offered was that of ‘just another cop’, he would not do the film.
On his character in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga he said, “In this film, it's very interestingly put and you will come to know when you see the film”.
The film was directed by Ajay Singh and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. Kaushik has also written the film’s script along with Shiraz Ahmad. Part of the review of the film on OTTplay reads “Once the film reaches the post-hijack situations, things start to unravel, which defies logic and brings in a lot of questionable situations”.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is available for streaming on Netflix.
