The film, helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, has Vikram sporting multiple avatars
There's news for Vikram fans. Chiyaan Vikram's recent outing Cobra, helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, is now all set to release in Russian (dubbed version) on December 15. The film is said to be screened at an Indian film festival in Moscow. Cobra is a psychological action thriller in which Vikram sports multiple looks.
The film has an ensemble star cast including Irfan Pathan, Srinidhi Shetty, Roshan Mathew, KS Ravikumar, Robo Shankar, Anandaraj, Miya George, Mrinalini Ravi, Sarjano Khalid and Meenakshi Govindarajan. Music for the film is by AR Rahman, cinematography by Harish Kannan and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan. The film, however, opened to negative reviews and was a dampener at the box office.
Vikram was later seen as Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan in Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and his performance in the star-studded film was well appreciated by many. Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of Kalki's novel of the same name and emerged as one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema in 2022.
The actor has now moved on to Pa Ranjith's much-awaited Thangalaan. Playing the titular character, Vikram will be seen in a rustic avatar in the film. The team recently wrapped up a schedule in Hogenakkal. The makers had recently released a new poster on the occasion of Pa Ranjith's birthday. Thangalaan stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan and Pasupathy. The plot is set in the pre-independence era in the Kolar Gold Field.
While GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music, cinematography is by Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. The film's director Ranjith had stated that Thangalaan is an attempt to get a community's due and respect. The plot will revolve around the miners working in the field. The shoot is in full swing and the film will be released as a pan-India project in multiple languages.
