It looks like Ponniyin Selvan will end up as one of the biggest grossers of Tamil cinema this year. Movie lovers of different age groups have been sharing their excitement on social media after watching the movie, and are all praise for director Mani Ratnam for pulling off such a huge project.

The performance of lead actors is one of the highlights of the film, and critics and film buffs are unanimously heaping praise on the makers' choice of cast. Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai and Jayam Ravi enjoy more screen space when compared to other actors.

Chiyaan Vikram, who plays Aditha Karikalan in the movie, has taken to his Twitter page to thank the audience for their conditional love and support towards the project. He has posted a heartfelt video which begins with him saying 'thank you' in different languages as he seems to be overwhelmed with the response.

He went on to say that though he has played many memorable characters in the past, Aditha Karikalan will remain special for him considering the significance of this movie. Vikram added that he felt extremely happy to see viewers lapping up Ponniyin Selvan like never before.

The versatile actor also thanked Mani Ratnam and the rest of the cast and crew for bringing Ponniyin Selvan on screen. Fans of the star are now looking forward to watching more of his action in the second installment which will release in 2023.

Ponniyin Selvan marks his second collaboration with Mani and Aishwarya Rai after Raavanan. This is also his third movie in 2022, after Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Ajay Gnanamuthu's Cobra (streaming on SonyLIV).
