Chiyaan 61: Vikram and Pa Ranjith officially join hands for a project with Gnanavel Raja

There has been talks about the actor and filmmaker teaming up for a while,

And it's official now! Actor Vikram and filmmaker Pa Ranjith are collaborating for a movie to be bankrolled by Studio Green's Gnanavel Raja. Though there has been speculation about the director and actor joining hands for a while, there wasn't any authentic confirmation on the same till sometime ago.

The film, which is tentatively titled Chiyaan 61 (Vikram's 61st project), is Studio Green's 23rd movie. The Twitter handle of the production house excitedly announced the news with the post that read, "@StudioGreen2's #ProductionNo23 - The Mega Announcement of the Day #Chiyaan61 #ChiyaanVikram with Director Pa.Ranjith From Producer KE Gnanavelraja (sic)."

According to the makers, the details of other cast and crew of the movie will be announced soon. The names of Anirudh, Santhosh Narayanan and GV Prakash have been doing the rounds on social media with regard to the film's music composer. Santhosh has been the regular musician for all the films of Ranjith till now.

Vikram's upcoming film, Mahaan directed by Karthik Subbaraj, too, has Santhosh on the board as its composer. The film is said to be having a direct release on Amazon Prime Video in January.

This is the first time Vikram and Ranjith are teaming up for a project. The latter's previous outing was Sarpatta Parambarai which had a straight-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video a few months ago. He is currently busy with Natchathiram Nagargirathu, which has Ashok Selvan, Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan playing lead roles.

On the other hand, Vikram who was last seen in Kadaram Kondan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), has Ajay Gnanamuthu's Cobra and Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan too, in his kitty.
