Telugu OTT platform aha has been on an announcement spree lately. They had released two originals - Highway and Odela Railway Station - across as many weekends. They also announced the premiere of two other films - Pellikuturu Party and Panchatantra Kathalu - for Vinayaka Chavithi on August 31. aha will also stream another small-budget film titled Chittam Maharani in September.
For the unversed, Chittam Maharani is a romance bringing together newcomers Yazurved and Rachana Inder in lead roles. The film is directed by Akula Kasi Viswanath and jointly produced by JS Manikanta and Prasad Reddy TR under Little Thoughts Cinemas. The rom-com revolving around COVID-19 lockdown had hit theatres in the last week of June earlier this year.
The story takes off when Chaitra (Rachana Inder) is in quest of a job in Bangalore but before her plans take off, a nation-wide lockdown is imposed, and she is left without a home. She decides to take a ride back home and spots her ex Raju (Yazurved Gurram) in a bike pool app. Amidst this confusion, they head to Amalapuram. What’s in store for the couple over this journey?
In the meanwhile, another sublot in the film revolves around a girl who is kidnapped and the abductors demand a ransom to ensure her release. Their parents embark on a journey to give them the money and rescue their daughter. Sunil is cast as the police officer committed to catch the kidnappers. What connects the couple to this incident? This forms the crux of the story.
The lead actor Yazurved had earlier played one of the key roles in the rustic comedy Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru which also introduced Kiran Abbavaram to Telugu cinema. Chittam Maharani has dialogues by Suresh Siddhani and is edited by Karthika Srinivas. Gowra Hari scored the music for the film which has cinematography by Vishwanath Reddy.
Chittam Maharani also stars Thulasi, Harshavardhan, Madhunandhan, Sathya, Raj Kumar Kasireddy, Viva Harsha, Jabardasth Ashok and Nayani Pavani.
