Telugu film industry has lost many stalwarts in the recent years - from Krishna to Krishnam Raju to Jamuna, K Viswanath, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Sarath Babu and another legend reached the heavens today - actor Chandra Mohan. Easily one of the most dependable, versatile actors who could fit into any role with ease, the fraternity will truly miss the services of the performer, who retired from acting recently.

Chiranjeevi, in particular, shared screen space with Chandra Mohan in many films including his first film Pranam Khareedu, Magadheerudu, Tayaramma Bangarayya, Chantabbai, Inti Guttu, Jai Chiranjeeva and others, to name a few. The ‘Mega Star’ mourned the death of the veteran actor in a heartfelt post on social media this morning, recounting the many memories they shared over decades.

“Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabhanam, Radha Kalyanam and Naku Pellam Kavali - he acted in many classics that tapped into his versatility as an actor and helped him win over Telugu audiences. It’s disappointing that he’s not here with us any more,” Chiranjeevi wrote. He remembered how Chandra Mohan was brilliant in his portrayal of a dumb man in his debut Pranam Khareedu.

“Pranam Khareedu is one of his finest performances to date. We shared a great bond, were good friends and enjoyed a wonderful rapport over the years. This is a personal loss. I pray that his soul resists in peace and offer my sincere condolences to his family and fans,” the Waltair Veerayya star added. Their last on-screen appearance was for Jai Chiranjeeva in 2005.

Chandra Mohan consciously worked in lesser movies in recent years owing to his age - some of his popular recent outings were Duvvada Jagannadham, Manamantha, Loukyam, Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, Hyper and Oxygen. Besides Telugu cinema, he acted in several Tamil films including Naalai Namadhe, Neeya, Pathukappu, Time and Saguni.
