Directed by debutant director duo Vikram Rajeshwar and Arun Keshav, the upcoming action-comedy film Chennai City Gangsters has Vaibhav playing the lead
Happy birthday Vaibhav! The makers of Chennai City Gangsters unveiled a special poster of Vaibhav on the occasion of the Tamil actor’s birthday. The new poster features the actor sporting casual wear, while holding a wooden tool. He is seen standing in a room that has broken walls and floor. The messy backdrop, along with the swaggy pose of Vaibhav, hints at the film being an action comedy.
Earlier a first-look poster and motion poster were unveiled by the makers, featuring all the cast of the film, seated together in a messy room. The title of the film is inspired by the song sung by Anirudh in the film Vanakkam Chennai.

Jointly directed by Vikram Rajeshwar and Arun Keshav in their directorial debut, the upcoming film is an comedy flick revolving around a robbery. The film is set in Chennai and will take place in a span of 3-4 months, according to director Vikram. “I had read an article about an incident that happened abroad. Though the subject was serious, I wanted to put a humorous spin on it. Vaibhav will be playing the role of an average north Madras guy,” the director revealed.

Apart from the leading man, the film also stars Athulya Ravi as his love interest along with Anandraj, Rajendran, John Vijay, Redin Kingsley, Sunil Reddy, Ilavarasu, PL Thenappan and others in supporting roles. The film also marks the first on-screen appearance of real-life brothers and actors Vaibhav and Sunil. On the technical front, D Imman is scoring the music, while Tijo Tomy and Suresh A Prasad have been roped in as the cinematographer and editor, respectively. Arun Shankar Durai is doing the art direction and stunts are handled by Don Ashok.
Meanwhile, Vaibhav, who was last seen in the crime thriller Ranam Aram Thavarel, will be featured next in Thalapathy Vijay-starrer The Greatest of All Time, which is directed by Venkat Prabhu.
